There's no such thing as a free lunch. Or a free Echo Spot.

Amazon has cancelled the orders of customers after the white version of the smart speaker was temporarily listed on Massage Parlor Prostitutesits website for zero dollars, down from the regular price of $129.

As TechCrunch notes, the black version of the device was listed for $99, a deal comparative to its usual asking price. But of course, you can't beat a free Echo Spot.

Predictably, the free Echo Spot sold out quickly, leaving those who had "bought" one to hope that Amazon didn't pick up on the error.

But on Monday, Amazon sent out emails to customers who tried to pick up a free Echo Spot, informing them that their orders wouldn't be fulfilled.

"We noticed an error in an order you recently placed and wanted to make you aware of the issue. Due to a technical error, the price of the Echo Spot that you purchased on July 29, 2018 was incorrectly listed," the email read.

"Because of this error, we are unable to fulfill your Echo Spot order. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused."

Well, guess it was fun while it lasted.
